BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETINGS

THE GSO BUDGET COMMITTEE

The Budget Committee shall consist of the Treasurer, Assistant Treasurers, and five GSO senators as voting members. The C&D Agent shall be a non-voting member, with responsibilities as detailed in the Chancellor recommendations to the Senate in accordance with the GSO Internal Control Program.

WHAT DOES THE BUDGET COMMITTEE DO?

  • Review event funding proposals under the General Cultural & Social Events and Speaker Series funding lines, events that are advertised and broadcast to all graduate students at Stony Brook University.

  • Advise clubs, organizations, departments, and senators on event funding and budget proposals.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR BUDGET COMMITTEE REVIEW?

All documentation listed below must be submitted the Wednesday before each Budget Committee meeting to the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurers:

If an event proposal for General Cultural/Social Events or Speaker Series:

The documents we will need for budget committee review are the following:

  1. Application Form: with event details and estimated, itemized expenses

  2. Event Description including speaker biographies (if applicable), how coordinators plan to advertise the event to the graduate student population

  3. Event Flyer: with the date/time/location, and the GSO logo, (and Zoom link if a hybrid event)

If a budget line proposal or proposal to amend current funding lines, please submit a ~1-page description of what the funds will be for, proposed budget table, proposed events, etc.
