General GSO FAQ Information

What does the Graduate Activity fee provide and support?

The graduate activity fee supports the GSO reimbursement and funding lines, GSO events and activities, and other graduate student interests.

How do I know I pay the graduate student activity fee?

Check your tuition bill on SOLAR >> What do I owe? >> Click on the current semester, and you will see the graduate activity fee ($45 for fall/spring, or $5 for each summer session unless you are enrolled in your department's 800-level research course). (Please note: the Medical Student Activity fee is a different fee, also $45 for fall/spring. If you pay the medical student activity fee, you are not eligible for GSO funding/reimbursements.)

Can I opt out of paying the graduate student activity fee?

Yes, you can fill out the student activity fee waiver form and select the semester you would like to waive the fee.

Graduate students may request a waiver of the student activity fee on the basis of employment, internship/clinical rotation, child care, or commuting.
